Whats’s been happening this Year on The Lycian Way?
So far this year we have enjoyed meeting walkers from all over the world. More hikers than ever are enjoying the beautiful Lycian Way route.
We have welcomed guests to our guesthouse Meyveli Ev from The UK, Spain, Canada, USA, Australia, Germany & Ireland. The weather is less hot than last year so far which is good news for those hiking. It seems that the numbers are also more than last year. We have met many walkers who are camping on the route. Groups from Ukraine and Russia, Georgia and Italy.
It’s great to also see Turkish Hikers enjoying The Lycian Way. When my wife and I first walked on The Lycian Way in 2008 it was unheard of for Turkish people to hike. Now many of the younger generation are taking time out to see the beauty of their own country.
What is like to hike on The Lycian Way?
We hope some of the pictures on our website help give you a good idea. Much of the route is close to the sea with wonderful views every day. The mountains are close by and you will experience many ascents and descents on the route. The history is incredible and includes many ancient sites dating back before Alexander The Great conquered this region. The local people are warm and friendly and many still maintain their old traditions. You will walk through olive groves, pine forests, on mountain tracks, beaches and historic sites. The Lycian Way is truly a wonderful hiking experience.
