Lycian way Holidays

Is there an age limit to hike on the Lycian Way?

It is a question we often get asked. It is always difficult to answer. We have had guests as young as 6 and as old as 84 come and hike on the Lycian Way. We are able to adjust most daily walking distances to fit various degrees of fitness. Our most common and popular age group is the 55-65 one. So, age need not be a barrier to hike on The Lycian Way.

Our first advice to anyone who is not sure and does not do any regular exercise is paying a visit to your local doctor. Explain that you are thinking of hiking for 5 or 6 days. For 3-5 hours per day. It is not a race and you can walk at your own pace. Most doctors are happy to recommend exercise for their patients but it is always worth making sure first, especially if you rely on any medication for your health. Here is a great article to get you motivated:

At the other end of the scale, we get guests ask us if we can increase the walking. The answer is yes. We can adjust the daily itineraries and places you will stay. So, for our very fit guests we can give them a suitable itinerary to hike on the Lycian Way.

Do I need to hike for a week?

This is another common question we get asked and the answer is no. You can come for a few days hiking. Or you can hike the whole Lycian Way route over approximately 4 weeks. You can hike for a few hours per day or nine hours per day if you prefer. We can include rest days where you can do nothing and lie on a beautiful beach. You can visit ancient sites in the area or take a boat trip to nearby islands. It is your hiking holiday and we are here to give you an itinerary that suits your needs and ability.
