Day 1 – Arrive Dalaman Airport, transfer to accommodation ( 1 hour) If time you can explore the beautiful village of kayakoy with its famous ruins.
Day 2 – walk from Kayakoy to Faralya approx 6 hours
From Kayakoy the route passes the ruins and winds through pine forest to Ovacik, the official start point of The Lycian Way, we will ascend around Baba Dag (Father mountain) with great views over Olu Deniz Lagoon and the surrounding coastline. The route continues to the little village of Kirme on the shoulder of Baba Dag then descending though valleys to the village of Faralya nestling above Butterfly valley.
Day 3 – Faralya to Alinca approx 6 hours
From Farayla you will walk to the village of Kabak and on down to Kabak Beach where you will have chance to swim. From here you will walk along the valley floor until starting a long but steady climb to Alinca another small village perched on the mountainside with fantastic views out to sea.
Day 4 – Alinca to Bel via Sidyma approx 7 hours
Today you will follow the coastline and then along a pretty valley to the village of Bogazici before ascending to the ancient Lycian site of Sidyma where you can explore before heading off to Bel a tiny village, meaning ‘pass’ the lowest point Karadere and the sea.
Day 5 – rest day, optional boat trip/ancient ruins tour/day on the beach or more hiking if you prefer
Day 6 – Walk from Cavir to Uzumlu approx 6 hours
Today the walk follows an ancient aquaduct to its source. The route forms a large semi circle on hillsides above the fertile plains formed by the Esen Cay rRiver below. The destination is Uzumlu which means ‘with grapes’ a pretty village of vines, olive and fruit orchards.
Day 7 – Walk from Akbel to Patara via Delikemer approx 7 hours
The walk today is mostly flat and follows another ancient aquaduct to the Roman engineering marvel that is Delikemer where the water was siphoned inside large stone blocks across a small valley. The route finally descends to the incredible ancient ruins of Patara where there will be time to explore and also take a visit to the nearby white sand beach.
Day 8 – transfer return to Dalaman Airport.
